This book presents a collection of articles on research conducted by the staff of the Laboratory of Computational Methods in Engineering (LAMCE) from the Coordination of Postgraduate Engineering Programs (COPPE) from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ) and research partners from Brazil and abroad. The Laboratory of Computational Methods in Engineering (LAMCE) works with computational methods combined with visualization features of scientific and high performance computing. Its mission is to produce excellence in teaching, research, development, innovation and projects in Engineering and Geosciences with the use of computational methods, committing itself to the development and global insertion of Brazil. The Applied Virtual Reality Group (grva) was created in 1997, inaugurating a new line of research in order to study the applications of Virtual Reality in Scientific Visualization. The group has been active in teaching, research and development in the areas of Scientific Visualization, Virtual Reality and Augmented Reality as part of academic activities in postgraduate courses in Civil Engineering, High Performance Computing and Technology for Exploration and Exploitation of Oil and gas.
