Modern techniques of cataract surgery allow for patients to undergo corrective surgery earlier, thus increasing the number of cataract surgery patients. Thus, many ophthalmologists have redefined their practice to focus on cataract surgery, creating a great need for this type of issue. The topics included in this issue are perioperative and operative considerations in diabetics, dropped nucleus and vitrectomy techniques, endophthalmitis prevention, IOL fixation and the absence of capsular support, and astigmatism control, among many others.
