Duzinda is a romance of fiction. It happens in the thirties and forties (Twenty Century), in a middle-class suburb of São Paulo city. The skeleton of the drama really happened, but the "stuffing" is an imaginary one. To create in the author based herself in any state of Brazil, maybe anywhere in the world. Moreover, today similar facts are happening, both in stylish suburbs as well as in the poor outskirts of the cities. It is a story about the "small" mishandlings and abuses suffered by the ordinary woman, in her daily life. This takes away her dignity. The intention is to inspire the woman who reads this book to perceive, in a subtle way, how her life could also be involved in similar process. Many of them perhaps can do nothing, but, as psychologists say, being aware of the problem is alredy a quite important step. There is another character called Iolanda, who is a strong and fighting lady. In comparing the two, the author tries to show a positive message. The sage of this young lady called Duzinda was chosen because, although she lived quite a while ago, the people who met her still recall the fact frequently. People remembered about Duzinda and the other character Iolanda. It was also chosen because the story transmits to all women who read it in regard to the mentioned mishandlings and abuses a lot of commotion. It happens even to those women who apparently had not witnessed similar facts in their lives, being intellectual and/or even almost illiterate persons. They say they recall similar facts that may have happened to a relative, to a neighbour...
