China is the main trade partner of Brazil and even if the relationship between the two countries goes well beyond economic issues, Chinese investment in Brazil is the most important one today and it is thus important to understand how Chinese culture and economic dynamism continually impact the world, as Brazil will face its development challenges in this overall context. To contribute to understanding this complex situation, this volume puts together contributions by ten scholars from three continents. All of them share an independent and critical approach, with original and scholarly discussion about the intricacies of the challenges and outlook facing China and Brazil and their relations. All the chapters result from lectures sponsored by the Center for Advanced Studies, University of Campinas, Brazil, in 2011 and 2012 and they attest to the importance of international cooperation.
