Swiss artist Francois Berthoud 1961 is one of today's most outstanding fashion illustrators. He began his work in the fashion capital of Milan in 1982, and quickly developed his inimitable signature illustrations of clothes, shoes, handbags, perfumes, and accessories. Berthoud gained worldwide prominence through his work for magazines such as Vanity and Vogue. His expressive, highly aesthetic linocuts, drip paintings, and computer graphics accompany countless fashion advertising campaigns-from Yves Saint Laurent, Bulgari, Calzedonia, and Ferragamo to Viktor & Rolf and Sonia Rykiel. Here, the object being depicted and Berthoud's visual interpretation combine to form a Gesamtkunstwerk that essentially influences the perception and successful marketing of the product.
