Jack Pierson is one of the most influential American artists working today. Pierson works in a variety of media such as painting, drawing, photography, books, installation and film; as well as wall and floor sculptures assembled from found letters. Drawn to stardom, melodrama, loneliness and emotional narrative as subjects, Pierson infuses his work with visual and literal references to lost love, sexual longing, faded glamour, evanescence and beauty. Pierson is also concerned with the formal qualities of presentation and the number of aesthetic decisions required to achieve a balance between the narrative content of the artwork and its physical manifestation. This publication on Pierson's work since 1992 is an artist's book that contains an amalgamation of eight previous publications, all of which are out of print. These books were designed by the artist and are reproduced here in their original size and chronological order.
