This book addresses the ways in which language learning is related to learning about other cultures and to acquiring an ability to communicate across cultural frontiers. The book is divided into three areas: ¥Êthe first examines cultural awareness and intercultural competence from the perspective of the language learner ¥ the second gives accounts of projects involving the use of drama to raise cultural awareness ¥ the third focuses on teacher-training and researcher perspectives on aspects of culture and language teaching /learning.
